Probation after phone threats in Va.

By The Roanoke Times

A Baltimore man has been sentenced to five years probation for threatening the wife of a jailed neo-Nazi leader in Roanoke.

Defense attorney Jim Crawford said Wednesday that 46-year-old Timothy Bland is bipolar, and that he was intoxicated and delusional when he phoned Meghan White two days after Bill White's trial.

The Roanoke Times reports that Bland, a follower of Bill White's racist online rants, had been called as a prosecution witness to testify he was willing to act on White's threats. He never testified, but Crawford said Bland feared retribution.

Prosecutors say Bland called Meghan White and threatened to kill her and her infant daughter.

White is serving a 2½-year sentence for threatening a university administrator and intimidating a group of apartment-complex residents.
