Teen shot dead in Baltimore
Baltimore police are investigating the fatal shooting Monday of a high school basketball star.
Seventeen-year-old John Crowder was found lying in the grass in the 2600 block of Garrett Avenue near the Coldstream-Homestead-Montebello neighborhood at about 1 a.m.
He died a few hours later at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Crowder played forward for Our Lady of Mount Carmel High School in Essex. His coaches said he was being eyed by some college programs.
Crowder played as a freshman for Towson Catholic, but transferred to Mount Carmel when the Archdiocese of Baltimore closed it last summer.
