Weekend Baltimore killings may be related: Police
Baltimore police say two of the 10 slayings in the city over Memorial Day weekend may be related.
Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi says investigators believe the shooting deaths of two men on Friday are linked.
The slayings happened within minutes of each other and four blocks apart in east Baltimore. Guglielmi says police are close to making arrests in those cases.
The rest of the violence is not believed to be related. Two of the slayings were domestic, and several others stemmed from what Guglielmi called “silly incidents that escalated to violence.”
There were 21 homicides in Baltimore in May, up from 20 in May 2009. But for the year,
murders are still down.
There have been 81 homicides, compared with 96 at this point in 2009, and the city remains on pace to record fewer than 200 slayings for the first time since 1978.
