Jail for fake cancer scammer in Md.
A woman who pretended to be terminally ill with stomach cancer and stole money from friends has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
Thirty-eight-year-old Dina Perouty Leone of Rosedale was also ordered to pay $14,000 in restitution at sentencing in Baltimore County Circuit Court on Thursday.
She pleaded guilty in June to felony theft.
Leone used Facebook to get in touch with old high school friends, saying she had no insurance. Friends raised money for her.
