Manassas Subway robbery suspects picked up in Montgomery

Dan Morse

Sometimes the numbers behind crime suspects' lookout descriptions make for a distinct vision. Example: Male fugitive at 5'11", 150 pounds. Female at 5'6", 300.

The pair was apprehended shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday by Montgomery County police. Authorities in Manassas suspect them in the robbery of a Subway restaurant in that city on Oct. 1.

Berry, left, and Tierney (Manassas Police).

Victims told police a masked man entered the sandwich shop, and implied he had a gun, according to Manassas police. Detectives believe his female accomplice was in the area at the time.

Friday morning, police identified the two captured as Akim E. Berry and Veronica P. Tierney. Each recently lived in Germantown, according to police.
