New District Court judge in Montgomery

Dan Morse

Audrey A. Creighton, an assistant public defender in Montgomery County, has been appointed a District Court judge.

Governor Martin O’Malley appointed her to fill the vacancy created by the elevation of Judge Cheryl A. McCally to the Circuit Court, the governor's office said in a statement.

She beat out eight other nominees.

Creighton is a past president of the Maryland Hispanic Bar Association. She also teaches at the American University Washington College of Law, which provides a bio of her here.

"I am honored and humbled," said Creighton, who grew up in Montgomery County. "I view the judicial appointment as a wonderful opportunity to give back to the community that has given me so much."
