Arrest in July Northwest D.C. killing

A 22-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder in a July shooting.

D.C. Police officers responded to a report of a shooting at 11th St. and Columbia Rd. NW at 8:31 p.m. on July 10, according to a Friday police press release.

They found Jonathan S. Estep, 24, suffering from gunshot wounds; he was taken to an area hospital, where he died.

According to previous reports, a gunman approached Estep and another pedestrian from behind and began shooting. The other pedestrian was taken to a hospital and released.

On Thursday, authorities arrested Joseph McCrae, charging him with first-degree murder while armed in Estep’s killing.
