Assault, impersonating an officer charges in Md.
A North Potomac man has been charged with impersonating a police officer, assault and other offenses, Gaithersburg Police announced Friday.
Travis M. Anderson, 39, of the 12000 block of Gravehurst Lane, conducted a traffic stop near Darnestown Road and Quince Orchard Road while driving a white Police Interceptor Crown Victoria on Oct. 13., police said. He identified himself as a Montgomery County police officer before sexually assaulting a woman, according to police.

He was also observed operating a car's emergency lights and siren while driving in Gaithersburg on Oct. 29, police said. He later told officers he was a retired Washington. D.C. Housing Authority officer, according to police.
Anderson was arrested on Nov. 4 and charged with two counts of impersonating a police officer and one count each of second degree assault, fourth degree sex offense and false imprisonment.
