Kristin Ruddy honored as Vienna officer of the year
Vienna police officer Kristin Ruddy was honored as officer of the year by American Legion Post 180 at a Wednesday banquet.
Ruddy, a three-year veteran of the Vienna department, works as a patrol officer, woman's self defense instructor and bicycle officer, according to a press release from the department.

She has also worked as an undercover operative.
Ruddy's father is a sergeant with the Connecticut State Police, the release said, while her sister is a dispatcher with the Vienna department.
She was nominated by her sergeant, Peter Elias.
