Murder charge for teen in baby's death
A 16-year-old male has been arrested and charged with murder in the July death of a 4-month-old, D.C. police announced Monday.
Police and emergency personnel went to the 2100 block of 14th Street SE about 4:21 p.m. on July 25 in response to a report of an unconscious infant, police said in a news release. After CPR was administered, the child, Ja-Kai Wilson, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:55 pm.
After an autopsy, the chief medical examiner ruled the cause of death to be multiple "blunt impact traumas" and the death was ruled a homicide, police said.
The 16-year-old was arrested in Southeast Washington on July 30 after a warrant charging him with murder and first-degree cruelty to children was issued for him. Police did not name the teenager.
