'Preppy' suspect sought in Howard

Howard County police are looking for what they call a "preppy burglar" they say robbed a Highland house on Sept. 14.

The man, described as a white male between 20 and 30 years old, had wavy brown hair and an "average build," according to police: he wore a watch, a collared dress shirt with sleeves rolled up, tie, dress pants, belt and dark gloves.

The suspect. (Howard Police)

The man broke into a home in the 7600 block of Browns Bridge Rd. at about 10:25 a.m., police said, stealing small electronics and other property.

A security system installed at the home captured images of the suspect, said police, who released photographs and video of him.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call 410-313-STOP.

Preppy? I don't THINK so: Trouser pleats, Non-button-down collar.

But the concept of a preppy burglar is appealing, so I can understand the stretch. While theft is not unheard of in the upper and upper-middle classes, it is usually for much larger sums and sometimes assisted by legislation.

Being caught committing burglary is bad enough, but he was also caught checking, and double-checking, his fly. Ouch!
