Machen is D.C.'s new top prosecutor
The Senate on Thursday night confirmed Ronald C. Machen as the District's new top prosecutor.
Machen, a partner at the law firm WilmerHale, was an assistant U.S. attorney in the District from 1997 to 2001, handling crimes ranging from theft to mail fraud. President Obama nominated Machen to the high-profile post of the District's U.S. Attorney in December.
Machen could not be reached for comment, and it is not clear when he will start the job. Ben Friedman, a spokesman for the office, could not be reached for comment.
