DC Police probe 3 killings

A 45-year-old woman was found stabbed to death Monday night in Northeast Washington, one of three new cases for the D.C. police homicide unit within a matter of hours, authorities said.

The stabbing victim, identified by police as Theresa Hungerford, was killed at the address where she lived, in the 1600 block of E Street NE, police said. Officers responding to a call for help found her body about 11:50 p.m.

Earlier Monday, an unidentified woman was found dead in the 300 block of Farragut Street NW. The woman, discovered about 7:30 a.m. was apparent homicide victim, police said, although they provided no details on how she died.

Monday afternoon, a man who was shot in the District last month succumbed to his wounds in a hospital, police said. The victim was identified as Victor Chigoziri Mba-Jonas Jr., 20, of 4th Street, in Laurel. Police said he was shot about 2:30 a.m. June 27 in the 2500 block of 17th Street NW, in the Adams Morgan area.

Authorities urged anyone with information about the cases to call the police at 202-727-9099 or 888-919-2746. The department officers rewards of up to $25,000 for information leading to arrests and convictions in homicide cases.
