Body recovered in Occoquan Reservoir
A woman's body was found near the shoreline of the Occoquan Reservoir in Fairfax County, where authorities had been searching for a woman who went missing Oct. 16 while rowing.
The missing woman, Julia Shew, 64, of Lorton, left the Sandy Run rowing facility about 11 a.m. Saturday.
When Shew didn't return by 5 p.m., a search was started.
Shew's capsized scull was found near Fountainhead Regional Park, police said.
Police said the state Chief Medical Examiner's office is responsible for the official identification of the body.
