Man found on I-66 on-ramp dies

The Virginia State Police have opened a homicide investigation after the 20-year-old man found on an Interstate 66 on-ramp in Fairfax County Dec. 27 died, authorities said.

The man, Jabrill Y. Mara, of Springfield, died Wednesday, according to police. His death was announced Sunday.

Virginia State Police were notified at 12:08 a.m. Monday of a male pedestrian on the Nutley Street northbound ramp to I-66 east. Upon arrival, State Police found Mara shot. No vehicle or weapon was found.

Mara was immediately transported to Fairfax Inova Hospital, where he died.
