Reston man charged with murder in girlfriend's shooting death

A Reston man was arrested Saturday and charged with murder in the October shooting death of a woman inside his apartment, Fairfax County police said Monday.

Karen Deck, 42, of Reston, was found on Oct. 24 shot to death in the "upper body," meaning anywhere from her head to her stomach, inside the apartment of her boyfriend, Ronald Robertson, on Winterthur Lane in the Hunters Woods area.

According to court records Robertson, 45, had called his parents to report that "he had accidentally shot and killed his girlfriend," and his parents called 911.

Police officers who arrived at Robertson's apartment "heard banging coming from inside," according to an affidavit by Fairfax homicide Detective Brian S. Colligan. The apartment door was closed but unlocked, Colligan wrote, so officers entered and found Robertson inside, along with Deck and a weapon on the floor.

Robertson was not charged immediately with the homicide, but he was charged four days later with being a violent felon in possession of a gun, court records show. A preliminary hearing in that case was held last week, and the charge was sent to the grand jury for possible indictment.

Court records show that Robertson pleaded guilty in 1989 to shooting at an occupied vehicle. He received a five-year suspended sentence.

OMG, one has to wonder what the woman looked like if that was her boyfriend.

I saw an article earlier today where there was some violence in S.E. D.C.
Some of the responses were on the level of "that's S.E. D.C., that's what they do, murder one another". Well, looks like murder does not discriminate. People murder in Virginia just like they murder in D.C.
You guys need to think about that when you make your idiodic comments.

@Hylnchmaster, this is par for the course in VA. Gun violence is a way of life. They have college students gunning each other down. They have motorist shooting at each other over "road rage." They have boyfriends "accidentally" killing girlfriends.

The slugs and thugs in that state love to boast about their permissive gun laws. Well this is a result.

Ronald R you is not a Black man but you is a mugshot no-so-hot-shot and you should not date anyone. Hope your hand land you in the quicksand with the crime band(its).
Do you always wake up looking like a white monster or were you really born that way.
There is a church in SE next door to 7D police on Alabama Avenue run by 2 sisters and I was wondering if you are related to them, contact Maury Povich and get a DNA you'll resembled and both of these 2 sisters husbands died. No inference jsut curious.

jabreal00 & Hlynchmaster are you two idiots or do you simply like to distort the facts. The 2008 murder rate for Washington DC was 31.4 murders per 100,000 people and the murder rate in VA was 4.1 murders; now are we smart enough to understand which place has a higher murder rate? I wonder what the murder rate is in SE.
Now take a good look at the link below and see if you can figure out what the weapon of choice is in DC between 2004-2006.
