'Suspicious' crash death in Fairfax

A woman was found dead Sunday after a single-car crash in the Merrifield area of Fairfax County, county police said.

They said she had apparently suffered an upper body wound or injury before the crash. Her injuries were called "not consistent with the mechanism of the crash," according to police, and the incident is being investigated as a suspicious death.

Police said the woman’s two-door Toyota ran into a ditch near Arlington Boulevard and Williams Drive shortly before 4 p.m., and she was found dead at the scene.

The investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Solvers 1-866-411-TIPS/8477 or Fairfax County Police at 703-691-2131. Crime Solvers can also be reached online or by texting “TIP187” plus a message to CRIMES/274637.
