Woman, 37, killed in Va. restaurant
A 37-year-old woman was attacked and killed in a Springfield-area restaurant Wednesday night by a man she knew, Fairfax County police said.
Police who were called to the 5T Bar and Grill, in a strip mall in the 7000 block of Spring Garden Drive, found the woman dead inside, said Officer Tawny Wright, a police spokeswoman.
Investigators think a man who was an "acquaintance" of the woman attacked her with a weapon and then "tried to harm himself" with the same weapon, Wright said.
Officials declined to describe the weapon or the nature of the woman's fatal injuries. The man was taken into custody and taken a hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life threatening.
The man, who was described as being 40 years old, was taken into custody, Wright said. "This was determined to be between the two of them," she said.
Detectives were still interviewing witnesses from the restaurant. It was not clear whether the man and woman were patrons or employees at the restaurant.
