Woman slain in Chantilly, husband charged

update 4:13 p.m.

Fairfax police identified the victim as Kathleen Tran, 44, of the 13800-block of Rembrandt Way, and said she was shot in the upper body. Her husband, Tony Tong, 43, has been charged with muder.

Police said Tong was involved in a physical altercation with another family member at the home before police arrived. He is being treated at a local hospital.

A woman was shot to death overnight in Chantilly during what investigators believe was a domestic dispute, Fairfax County police reported.

The woman's husband, who was in the house when police arrived, was taken into custody.

Officer Bud Walker said police were called to a single-family home in the 13800 block of Rembrandt Way about 3 a.m. Friday for a report of a shooting. They found the woman dead inside the house, apparently from at least one gunshot wound.

Her husband was immediately taken into custody, Walker said.

Based on the preliminary police investigation, detectives believe the shooting stemmed from an argument between the man and the woman, Walker said. Neither of their names were released.

That's horrible. My heart breaks when I read things like this.

Another reason not to have firearms lying around the house, esp. if you've got a dysfunctional marriage with violent scenes playing out. Guns help escalate already violent domestic situations into deadlier violence.

What a coward this guy is.

I have 7 pistols and an AR15 in my house. Not once during an argument have I even remotely thought about getting a weapon and using it. Post stupid things somewhere else.

I am not talking about "arguments."

I am talking about physical violence.

If you choose to ignore the difference between a mere verbal spat and a scene of out-of-control violence in your quest to defend your sacred Second Amendment cow, then you're probably just another NRA shill.

I know of lots of people who'd be probably dead by now if there had been a gun in the house because their spouses/partners would have succeeded in killing them.

But you go on defending your beloved pistols and AR15, whatever the hell that is.

So, let's get this straight, you're attacking me for knowing people who have been severely damaged in life and/or abused by spouses/partners. Yup, I should abandon friends like that so I can take on a holier-than-thou, sink-or-swim attitude like scott9050 or carlaclaws and their beer buddies.

As the tired old saying goes, with friends like you, who needs enemies?

Need I say it yet again??? People kill people - not guns!!
MoCo wants to change th Constitution because of a couple of nut cases!!
But if someone knocks her door down she will accept ANY gun bearer to save her liberal butt!! :-)
Why not get a gun - get trained and be ready to take care of yourself!! The government shouldn't have to do everything for you!

That Guy (Tony Tron) was the last person to cut my hair. He was my barber here in Chantilly. I feel like I need to get my hair cut again right away by ANYONE but a murderer (aledgedly). I had his card with his signature in my wallet.. I already threw that away.

BTW... having guns in the house has nothing to do with his person being dead. If you want ot kill someone you will shoot them, drown them, choke them, poison them, pick a rock and ...... you get the picture. Its not the guns fault.
