Arson charges for Frederick teen

By Frederick (Md.) News-Post

Fire officials say a 16-year-old has been charged with arson after a fire was set in his Frederick home.

Officials say the blaze was reported Wednesday about 5:30 p.m. on Foxhunt Court.

Firefighters arrived to find flames coming from a second-floor bedroom window and extending to the roof.

Authorities say the teenager set a mattress on fire in his home.

The blazed caused $200,000 damage to the home. There were no injuries, and several animals were removed unharmed.

The youth has been referred to the Department of Juvenile Services.
