18 mos. in fake hostage incident in Md.
A former waiter in Frederick is spending 18 months in jail for robbing his workplace by pretending to take an alleged accomplice hostage.
Twenty-one-year-old Zachary Saltzman was sentenced Tuesday in Frederick County Circuit Court.
He pleaded guilty in April to armed robbery of the Greene Turtle Sports Bar and Grille.
Police say Saltzman pretended to take waitress Christina Sprunger hostage at knifepoint and then threatened to stab the manager in December. He fled with more than $10,000, some of which was later found in his home.
Twenty-year-old Sprunger is scheduled for a pretrial hearing Monday and a jury trial next month on charges of robbery, assault and theft.
