Man who shot girlfriend gets 50 years
A man who shot his pregnant estranged girlfriend in the head has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for attempted murder.
Forty-two-year-old Lewis Weedon Jr. said he was sorry at sentencing Tuesday in Frederick County Circuit Court.
Becky Lynn Wilkerson, his former girlfriend, said in court that Weedon was the “biggest coward I’ve ever known.”
She was 12 weeks pregnant with her now eight-month-old son on Sept. 12, 2009 when Weedon sneaked up and shot her.
Wilkerson still has a bullet fragment lodged in her brain, which affects her peripheral vision and keeps her from driving.
