Montgomery man shot after chasing armed robber
A Poolesville man is recovering after he was shot during what Frederick police say was a robbery scheme that turned violent.
Police said Monday that 20-year-old Steven Beitzel was shot in the upper torso after confronting a man who had robbed him outside the Fieldpointe Apartments early Sunday morning.
Police say Beitzel and two of his friends had driven to Frederick to meet 23-year-old Kristene Lattin, of Greencastle, Pa.
They say Lattin was waiting in the parking lot, but so was an unidentified man who jumped inside the car and robbed the occupants at gunpoint.
Beitzel chased the gunman and got shot.
Police say Lattin is being held on $65,000 bond, charged with armed robbery, theft and other offenses.
