New Market man dies in cart crash

A Maryland man is dead after losing control of his golf cart in a park and plunging over a 15-foot embankment into the Potomac River.

Sixty-year-old Marshall Marks of New Market died early Sunday.

Berkeley County sheriff's deputies say two others were injured. They were passengers in the cart that Marks was driving. Neither had life-threatening injuries.

The accident happened at River Bend Park, a recreational vehicle community near Falling Waters.

Investigators say Marks was apparently trying to turn the cart around on a narrow trail when he lost control and crashed.

Three people in a golf cart?

Yes three people in a golf cart, it was probably one that was converted to carry four passengers, two up front and two on a seat in the rear facing backwards. This type of vehicle is very common in beach communities and gated communities.

Wow. Two golf cart deaths in two days. In another article, a young boy was killed while driving one to clean up his grandmother's yard. Using the same consumer safety standard that has been applied to many other products where someone was injured or killed, all golf carts should be taken off the market or put out-of-service!!

Just hope he wasn't under the influence when this happened. That would make this even worse.

The headline should read...

"Golfer becomes 'Catch of the Day' from the Potomac River"

"Golfer spots Washington Silver Dollar and gets dunked.

or

Golfer wanted more than just an ordinary liquid refreshment.
