Police shoot, kill man in Frederick

Frederick police have identified a man who was shot to death during an encounter with police after a domestic disturbance.

The man was 28-year-old Olivier Cohen of Frederick.

Police are still investigating to determine whether Cohen was shot and killed by the officer who confronted him or whether he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

It happened shortly before 6 a.m. Sunday in the 200 block of South Market Street. Police say officers were called to the home three times Sunday morning, and on the third call, police were told that Cohen had left the home and was carrying a rifle.

Officers found him nearby, and that's when he fired a shot. Officer Jonathan Holler, a four-year veteran of the department, fired several rounds. Police say a rifle was recovered from the scene.

The woman involved in the disturbance was treated for minor injuries at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
