Felony, jail time for Fairfax mother whose baby overdosed on heroin

The mother of a five-month-old boy who overdosed on heroin was convicted Wednesday of felony child neglect.

A Fairfax County jury sentenced Marilyn R. Fischl, 36, to 30 days in prison.

Fischl faced a sentence of zero to five years in prison.

The baby has since recovered, authorities have said.

The trial began Tuesday.

Probably felt sorry because it was a female..had it been a male, they would have locked him up and thrown away the key. We need equal sentencing guidlines....
