Leslie Johnson hearing delayed

By Maria Glod

A federal judge in Maryland has agreed to delay a scheduled hearing for Prince George's Council member Leslie Johnson (D-Mitchellville), who is charged with evidence tampering in connection with a far-reaching corruption probe.

Johnson and her husband, former Prince George's County Executive Jack B.Johnson (D), were arrested in November amid a probe of land deals.

FBI agents said in court papers that an investigation revealed that developers and others in the county had been "regularly providing things of value" to public officials in return for favors.

On Nov. 12, as FBI agents knocked on the door of the Johnsons' Mitchellville home, the couple were overheard on a wiretap plotting to flush a $100,000 check from a developer down the toilet and hide $79,000 in Leslie Johnson's bra, according to court papers.

Leslie Johnson, who had been scheduled to appear in court Feb. 16, asked for additional time to investigate the allegations. Prosecutors did not contest the delay, and a federal judge rescheduled the hearing for March 16.

Leslie Johnson, who was elected to the County Council on Nov. 2, has retained her seat. The council in December took the unusual step of barring her from sitting on any comittees, where dozens of key decisions are made. The council agreed she may attend committee meetings and vote on bills that come before the full nine-member council.

I love white corrupted PeeGeeCee cop Richard Delabrer, part of the Jack and Leslie Johnson sting of arrests.
I support the Whites and hope the developers get off and hope Jack and Leslie Johnson set it off in a jail cell SOON.

Well, if Leslie Johnson did the honorable thing and resigned her Council seat, as most of her district wants her to--and as the entire rest of the county-does--then she'd have had the time to prepare for her hearing.

The fact that she doesn't understand how unethical it is for her to retain her council seat proves that the indictment is correct--she's ethically challenged at best, corrupt at worst. Resign, Leslie, resign!

And expect another delay. As I predicetd in an earlier post on this issue, the plan is to stretch this out as long as possible, so other more pressing issues will gain the public's attention. Then a quiet plea bargain to a lessor charge (with a recommendation of no prison time) and then things will be back to normal in Ole Prince George's County.

Leslie & Jack Johnson you are a disgrace. No matter what the outcome, you have finally been exposed for the crooks you are. All the while setting in judgement of others, you and many of your colleagues were doing worse. What hypocrites and scumbags!
