Pimp sentenced to 13 years
A New York man who admited he was a pimp in Virginia, Maryland and New York was sentenced to 13 years in prison Friday, federal authorities said.
Marc S. Brickhouse, 32, of Brooklyn, lured a 16-year-old girl from California to the East Coast to work as a prostitute, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Virginia. Authorities said a co-defendant, Julie McKenna, a prostitute who worked for Brickhouse, had befriended the teen in California and they kept in touch using MySpace.
When the teenager said she wanted to run away in December, court papers say, Brickhouse and McKenna agreed she could join them but would have to work to earn money.
According to authorities, Brickhouse and McKenna posted prostitution advertisements for the girl on Craigslist, and had her work as a prostitute at hotels in Maryland, New York and Virginia. The teenager and McKenna gave the cash they earned to Brickhouse, court records say.
On Feb. 10, authorities said, the girl was at a Marriot Residence Inn in Woodbridge when she ran to a nearby Babies"R" Us and asked an employee to call the police.
In May, Brickhouse pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Alexandria to transporting a 16-year-old across state lines for purposes of prostitution. Earlier this month, McKenna, who pleaded guilty to transporting an individual for purposes of prostitution, was sentenced to 71 months in prison, officials said.
