Pr. George's man admits killing girlfriend's baby

A Temple Hills man on Monday pleaded guilty in Circuit Court in Upper Marlboro to killing his girlfriend's 2 1/2-year-old-son, Prince George's County prosecutors said.

Renardo Fowler, 25, pleaded guilty to child abuse resulting in death.

Fowler admitted his guilt in the death of Jasaun French, who was the son of Fowler's girlfriend, Shameika French. Fowler was not Jasaun's father.

Fowler first came to the attention of authorities in relation to Jasaun's death on Nov. 30, 2006. On that day, Fowler -- who had been taking care of Jasaun -- called 911 to report that the boy had fallen off the couch and suffered massive head injuries, according to prosecutors.

Paramedics arrived and rushed the boy to Children's Hospital in the District, where he was treated for a fractured skull, broken ribs, and a lacerated liver, prosecutors said.

On Feb. 6, 2009, the boy was found unconscious. Paramedics rushed him to Southern Maryland Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy by the state Medical Examiner's office determined that the boy died of injuries suffered during the November 2006 incident. The boy's death was ruled a homicide.

Police obtained a written statement from Fowler in which he admitted the injuries had been caused by him throwing the boy to the floor, prosecutors said.

Circuit Court Judge Thomas P. Smith scheduled sentencing for May 24. Fowler faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison, prosecutors said.

This makes me sick to my stomach. There are just some downright awful people in this world.

Like in "third world" countries the punishment should fit the crime. This "man" should have his azz whooped in the same fashion and left for dead. In Greece now if you rape someone you're chemically castrated…I hope our laws change. Crime and ignorance would decline. 30 years? WTF?

Why did the mother allow the man to be in the house? Didn't she realize he was mistreating her son?

We need to reinstitute the death penalty in MD and VA. Some crimes are too heinous and too inexcusable to allow offenders to live -- especially on the taxpayers' dole. Here's hoping true justice occurs while he sits in prison.

Dear Baby Mamas and Baby Daddys of the world,

When you go through life having indiscriminate, unprotected sex that results in the creation of a child - and you proceed with delivering that child, and you maintain legal parental custody of that child - you GIVE UP YOUR RIGHT TO HAVE RELATIONSHIPS! YOUR CHILD IS YOUR FOCUS!

Jasuan would still be alive if his stupid mother spent the better part of her young and irresponsible life screening potential sex partners. To expose her son to a trifling POS like Fowler makes her partially responsible for her son's death!

I hope Fowler rots in hell and is killed in prison. I sincerely hope Jasaun's dumb mother is no longer able to have or carry to term more children.

These single momas never cease to amaze me. They continue to shack up with these loser thug boyfriends at the expense of their children's safety. These women cannot control their sexual and carnal lusts and urges for any period of time to shack up with these thugs.

I agree, He should've been sentenced to more then 30 years. He made a false report with the initial incident in Nov.2006, that alone should've been grounds to make the sentence at least 10 years longer.
@cdg0606, the death penalty has been active since Ehrlich. O'Malley had closed it, just put stipulations on it

What's even worse is that the mother bore Fowler a son.

Its sickening to know that total strangers to this individual's situation can pass judgement....and be so ignorant to comment on such a sore story and have no idea what they are talking about.....my prayers go out to the family of both parties....and its good to know that justice is being served.....better late than never.....

It's sickening to know that some self-righteous idiot can come into this thread and give that stupid mother and her dumb family a pass. She put her son in the hands of a loser NOT any of us. My prayers go out to the children that she will have who will once again become victims to her critical lapses in judgment coupled with her wanton desires for sexual activity from some POS man she meets. I bet she's in yet ANOTHER so-called relationship with some trifling man. I don't feel sorry for her. I feel NOTHING but sorrow for her dead son and the current one who will probably be killed by another boyfriend.

Take your PC crap someplace else and choke on it.

So you tell me that if this precious baby had not died..Fowler would still be walking the streets. Why wasn't he arrested 2+ years ago. Sounds like the system failed this baby. But God steped in took this precious baby home so that Fowler could be punished. NOT THE GOVERNMENT,POLICE, DETECTIVES ETC.
Rest in Peace Jasaun!
