A jury has recommended a 50-year sentence for a man convicted in the fatal beating of his former girlfriend's 3-year-old son.
The Henrico County Circuit Court jury on Thursday recommended the maximum sentence for 46-year-old Kevin M. Lucas.
Lucas was found guilty a day earlier of second-degree murder and felony child neglect in the April 2010 death of Christianreid Stephens.
An autopsy showed the child was struck more than 40 times.
