One dead in afternoon Oxon Hill double shooting

Two men were shot, one fatally, in the Oxon Hill area Wednesday afternoon. A school nearby was briefly placed on lockdown while police searched for suspects, authorities said.

The incident occurred just before 12:30 p.m. in the 5200 block of Indian Head Highway near the Eastover Shopping Center and the Prince George's County Police Department's District IV station, police said. Two men were shot in that area and transported to a nearby hospital; one died, and the other sustained serious injuries, police said.

Mike Thomen, who manages a pawnshop in the area, said he heard about seven gunshots, and then saw a man sprint past his store window. He said he later learned the man had been shot.

Nearby Forest Heights Elementary School was briefly placed on lockdown "as a precaution," said Cpl. Erica Johnson, a spokeswoman for the Prince George's County Police Department.

Police were searching for a 15-passenger white van and multiple suspects who might be connected to the incident, Johnston said.

Only in PG county: Jump into a cool, 15 passenger van with a bunch of your buddies (the more the merrier) and go out and shoot people.

These people will be caught soon, because they will brag to all their bros about how bad they are.

Cool!

Every time a crime is committed around here the closet racists come out in force with their brilliant commentary. It's easy to spew venom from behind a computer screen. I dare you to say any of this stuff in front of other people. In my mind an ignorant bigot is just as dangerous as a criminal. If you don't like it maybe you're the one that should leave, hmm?

See this just further illustrates why we need citizens packin heat, these bold and callous criminals decided to execute someone within shouting distance of a police station and an elementary school in the middle of the day!! We are dealing with a criminal sub-culture that doesn't respond to traditional law-enforcement. Until criminals realize that anyone could potentially return gunfire, they will continue to play the odds that most civilians do not have weapons and do as they please!!
