Laurel man killed in Howard County crash
A Laurel man was killed Tuesday night when his sport-utility vehicle veered off the road and slammed into a tree in the Savage area of Howard County, Howard police said Wednesday.
Police said Richard Earl Comstock, 60, of the 9600 block of Hadleigh Court, was driving a Hyundai Santa Fe west on Gorman Road. The SUV was near Horsham Drive about 8:15 p.m. when it left the road and struck a tree on the right of the road.
Police said Comstock was having a heart attack when paramedics arrived. He was transported to Howard County General Hospital where he died.
Investigators are examining whether Comstock's medical condition contributed to the crash.
He was the only person in the vehicle.
