New campus police chief at GWU

Josh White

A former deputy chief of the U.S. Park Police will take over as the head of George Washington University's police department after Labor Day, leading 150 uniformed officers on the D.C. campus.

Kevin Hay, who most recently managed the Park Police's Homeland Security Division and its 300-strong force, brings 26 years of Park Police experience to his new job.

He is scheduled to begin Sept. 7, according to a George Washington news release.

Hay will oversee campus police and security services -- including around-the-clock patrols -- at the University's Foggy Bottom and Mount Vernon campuses in Northwest D.C.. Licensed by the D.C. police, GWU officers enforce local laws and university regulations.
