McLean man dies in yard crash

Josh White

An 80-year-old McLean man who drove his car into a tree in his front yard on Monday afternoon died as a result of his injuries on Tuesday.

David Marvil, of the 900 block of Woburn Court, had pulled his 1998 Jeep Wrangler up infront of his home to check the mail when he suddenly accelerated, police said.

Police are unsure why Marvil hit the gas, but his car went to the right side of his driveway and continued into the front yard, where it hit a tree.

Marvil was alone in the car.

Police said Marvil was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He later died at the hospital.
