21 years for fatal '08 D.C. shooting

By Keith L. Alexander
Keith L. Alexander

A District man was sentenced to 21 years in prison for a 2008 fatal shooting during an argument over a double-parked car.

In September, a D.C. Superior Court jury convicted Ronald B. Wynn, 37, of voluntary manslaughter in the fatal shooting of Daniel Clark, 28, during an argument.

Authorities said the dispute erupted after Wynn double-parked his car on July 28, 2008, in the 3100 block of Buena Vista Terrace SE, stopping vehicles from leaving the complex.

During the sentencing Friday, Judge Herbert B. Dixon Jr. called the fatal shooting of the father of three a "tremendous loss."

Wynn's attorney had argued that Clark also had a gun during the dispute and Wynn was protecting himself before fatally shooting Clark in his left temple and speeding off.

During a trial last fall, federal prosecutors tried to convince the jury that Wynn was guilty of first- and second-degree murder. But the jury was unable to reach a verdict on those charges and instead found Wynn guilty of voluntary manslaughter.

It was the second time Wynn was on trial for the fatal shooting. During the first trial, a different jury was unable to reach a verdict on the murder charges and only convicted Wynn of obstruction and gun possession.

This is the problem with our country. Every other person has a gun. Words are not enough. You can't just argue. Oh no. You have to pull out a gun & shoot the guy.

The rest of the world just looks at this kind of insanity & shakes their heads. And we keep on doing it.

Does anyone feel any safer with all of the guns? that we have in the USA?

Aryan Brotherhood member in prison: "What are you in for?"

Ronald Soon-To-Be-Someone's-GF-Wearing-A- Halter Top-And-Booty-Shorts Wynn: "Killing a guy coz he double-parked."

AB member: "OOOOOH."

First of all, your dumb stupid butt created the mess by double parking and thinking you own the world. On top of that you kill somebody because of that stupidity. You should have gotten life without the possibility of parole just for being stupid and ignorant.

This is for TaxiDriver, m_miller1808, and POLOinDC, first of all know what you are talking about before you comment on someone, do you really know what happened or are you just going by what you read or heard on the news I think both you stupid people. Ronald is not going to be no ones gf in jail maybe you are some ones gf out here on the street, know the facts before you run your mouth. I bet the three of you are packing a pistol and don't want anyone to know that you are afraid of going into a lite alley, not dark but one doing the day,so before u talk think first.

Wow. Wynn's a real jerk. First he blocks traffic so no one can leave -enough of a reason to earn him jerk status -and then kills some guy?
Yeah, I wasn't there but good people don't shoot other people in the temple while being an a&& and blocking traffic.

I bet the three of you are afraid to go into an alley, and if it's at night I know you aren't going into that alley, so before you talk about someone take a good long look at yourselves first, you three are the reason that our world is so corrupt and crooked, do not pass judgement on anyone who the --- are you to pass judgement, you surely are not GOD!!!!

This is a sad story for all involved, made all the more regrettable by the inane and truculent comments posted about it.

divagirl54 is obviously related to "Ronald" and in her feelings about the comments. Point blank, dude blocked traffic like he onwed the area and that's enough to piss off most people and I'm sure someone trying to get past said something to him about his arrogant behavior. But on top of this, 'Ronald' pulled out the gun he had on him and shot another guy in the head THEN left the scene of a murder. Yes MURDER! So tell me divagirl54, what else is there to know that should make someone NOT think so negatively about him? Better yet, since you know so much, enlighten us on what the jurors and writers of this article missed that sentenced his arrogant azz to prison for such a heinous crime??? Related or not, be real with yourself and admit that your boy Ronald screwed up and is now paying the consequences!!!

What I advocate for all those who shoot and kill someone for reasons other than self defense. Lock them is a cell for 24 hours a day without communications with anyone. Give them a gun with one bullet in it. Tell them they can either use the gun on themselves, or they can go free if the senseless killing stops in the streets for 10 years.

Divagirl54: Please, I beg you, step away from the keyboard. You're perilously close to creating a gigantic black hole of incoherence that threatens to suck the entire internet past the event horizon.
