Va. man charged with drunk driving

A 19-year-old Leesburg man who allegedly was driving drunk when his SUV struck some trees Saturday has been charged with felony child endangerment, and police said a 4-year-old girl was in a car seat that had not been properly installed.

Loudoun County Sheriff's officials said Luis Esquivel Mandujano was driving on Route 7 east of Belmont Ridge Road in Ashburn when he lost control of his 1998 Chevrolet Blazer and it veered into the median and struck the trees.

Passengers Matias Bonillam, 27, and Miriam Reyes, 41, both of Landover, were ejected from the vehicle, authorities said. Bonillam was flown to INOVA Fairfax with serious injuries. Reyes was taken to INOVA Lansdowne with non-life-threatening injuries. Reyes’ four-year-old daughter was flown to INOVA Fairfax Hospital with serious injuries.

Mandujano, who also was injured in the crash, initially was charged with DUI and driving without a license, authorities said. The felony child endangerment charge was added Wednesday.

Sheriff's officials said Mandujano is being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on a detainer from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

If I was here illegally, the last thing I would be doing is getting drunk then driving a car, especially with my "legal" daughter in the back seat.

Adios amigo....

Another bunch of racists who assume that any person with a Hispanic sounding last name is an "illegal."

The problem with the immigration debate is that valid arguments to support a more secure border and a comprehensive immigration policy have been hijacked by racists and xenophobes.

In 20 years, this country will have a majority population of people with Hispanic names and those among you who are constantly spouting racist rhetoric can only hope that the new majority don't harbor the same racist sentiments that you promote in your comments.

MdLaw,
Before you get all hi & mighty, it seems that Luis Esquivel Mandujano is being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on a detainer from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, so your statement about this incident, is MOOT & w/o merit!!
