Man, 72, arrested for sex abuse in Va.

By Caitlin Gibson

A Loudoun County man believed to have sexually abused a child over the last several months has been arrested by the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office, according to authorities.

Earl Bufford Sandloin, 72, of Buffalo Run Ln., Centreville, was arraigned Friday on felony charges stemming from repeated sexual assaults on a child under 13 years of age, authorities said.

Most of the incidents occurred at Sandloin's residence, according to Vincent DiBenedetto, a spokesman for the Loudoun Sheriff's Office. The victim knew the suspect but is not a relative, authorities said.

DiBenedetto said investigators will look into the possibility of additional victims.

"One of the concerns we have is that often this doesn't occur in a vacuum," he said.

Sandloin is currently held in the Loudoun Adult Detention Center without bond. He has a hearing date scheduled for April, authorities said. The case remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact Investigator S. Cumberledge at 703-777-0475.
