Two stabbings in Leesburg

The Leesburg Police Department is investigating two separate stabbing incidents.

The first occurred on Tuesday night, at about 9:30, when a 15-year-old boy was attacked near the intersection of East Market Street and Plaza Street SE, police said.

The boy was taken by helicopter to Inova Fairfax Hospital and remains there. But his wounds are not considered life-threatening, said Lt. Wes Thompson of the Leesburg Police. The suspect was described as a stocky, white male in his 40s wearing a ball cap and driving a green minivan.

The second incident took place Thursday at 6:15 a.m. on Edwards Ferry Road NE, when a 67-year-old man was stabbed. The victim was in surgery at Inova Fairfax, Thompson said, but he also is expected to survive. The second victim also described the suspect as a white male with a ball cap, but said that the suspect's vehicle appeared to be a dark Chevy station wagon, according to police.

Despite the similarities in the suspect's description and the proximity of the attacks, Thompson indicated that police were not definitively linking the two. "It's too early in the investigation," he said.

"In the first attack there was an iPod taken," Thompson said, but the motive for the second attack remains unknown.

Trout1 - What are you trying to say? All white people in their 40's that wear a ball cap are rednecks? Wow...what a complete racist you are.

Wash Post, what county?

You usually state things by county, not by town. Usually says "Prince Georges or Prince William County xyz" not "Dale City or Clinton".

Leesburg is in Loudoun County, but it is an independent town, like Vienna or Herndon. Which is why they probably didn't mention the county.

Not necessarily. Law enforcement generally classifies Hispanic suspects as White unless and until they are the victims of crime then they miraculously morph back to Hispanic to be eligible for victim or sainthood status in bias(hate) related crimes.

Because these crimes didn't happen in Prince Georges County and the suspect isn't black, don't expect to hear anything from checkered1 or waterfrontproperty. The perp is probably one of their friends or relatives.

Slim2 - good point. Never thought of that, actually never knew that. Woof3 is right - doesn't add up.

And here I thought Leesburg, VA was a safe place...guess there is no reason to move out of Prince George's now!

The City of Leesburg is NOT part of Loudon County. In Virginia, cities and counties are nearly equivalent entities. Cities are not a subset of a county.

This can be confusing. There is the City of Alexandria, but there is an adjacent part of Fairfax County that is called Alexandria. There is a City of Falls Church, but also an adjacent region of FF County called Falls Church. There is the City of Fairfax and an adjacent part of Fairfax County called Fairfax.

Virginia also has towns. Towns are semi-autonomous parts of counties. Herndon and Vienna are towns, but part of Fairfax County.

McLean, Annadale, Springfield, to name a few areas are not cities, they are parts of Fairfax County.

Leesburg isn't actually a city, SuperG5; it's an incorporated town. Unlike in the cities you mentioned, citizens pay both town and county taxes.

Dude's using a butcher knife they say. Stabbing them multiple times. Second guy was attacked in the stairwell of his apt building. This is in the subsidized housing part of Leesburg.
