Sex crime charge for nurse practitioner
Editor's note, Feb. 21, 2012: All charges placed against Flaviano Dazo in this case were dropped in 2010, according to Manassas police.
A nurse practitioner has been charged with inappropriately touching a patient at a Manassas clinic, police said Friday.
Flaviano D. Dazo, 42, who worked at the Old Town Manassas Medical Clinic in the 9000 block of Church St., was charged on August 5 with sexual battery and object sexual penetration, Manassas police said.
Police said on August 2 a 22-year-old woman was at the clinic for an Immigration and Naturalization Service physical exam. A female nurse took blood and urine samples and administered a TB test.
Then, police said, Dazo came into the examination room and the woman assumed he was a physician. He instructed the woman to undress and touched her inappropriately during the exam, police said.
Dazo, 42, of the 9400 block of Flowerden Lane in Manassas, was released on $20,000 unsecured bond pending a Sept. 2 court date.
According the Virginia Department of Health Professions website, Dazo is a licensed nurse practitioner. His license is valid until May 2012.
