'Big stick' robbery in Manassas

By Elizabeth Flock

As a Manassas store clerk opened his shop early Tuesday, he was greeted by a hooded man wielding an extremely large stick. How big? Watch the video below. Manassas City police are calling it an armed robbery.

The 58-year-old clerk, whom WRC-TV (Channel 4) identified as storeowner Jugal Uppal, grabbed a small ball peen hammer to defend himself, police said.

When the robber jumped the store counter, the clerk grabbed the stick. But he could not hang on for long. The robber leaped over the counter, grabbed the clerk and struck him in the face several times, police said. The robber made off with some cash from the store, taking his stick with him.

Police described the suspect as between five feet four inches and five feet, seven inches tall. He was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, jeans and white gloves. A white scarf or bandanna was covering his face.

Police are asking anyone with information on the robbery to call the confidential crime-solvers hotline at (703) 330-0330. Manassas City Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward up to $1000 for information that leads to an arrest in the case.

Was the bandanna covering the robber's entire face, or is it not PC to state the robber's skin color? I guess that's more important than solving a crime.

johnfchick1, com eon KNOW that skin color has absolutely nothing to do with solving a crime. All it does is get those law abiding citizens riled up.

Skin outdated a crime-solving technique is that?? LOL

WaPo and it's politically correct way of doing things will be the death of us all!
