Body found near Prince George's courthouse identified

A body found the night of Jan. 14 lying in a road near the Prince George's County courthouse has been identified as Amile Haynas, 43, of no fixed address, said Upper Marlboro Police Chief Michael Gonnella.

County homicide detectives continue to investigate the death, said Gonella. Suicide has been ruled out.

Gonnella declined to say how Haynas is believed to have died for fear of tainting later statements from any suspect.

Haynas was found dead at about 11:40 p.m. on Jan. 14 in the 5400 block of Water Street.

He had suffered "upper body trauma," according to police who found the body after receiving a call saying a man was down in the road, the chief said.
