A funeral service will be held Wednesday in Fredericksburg followed immediately by burial in Spotsylvania for Spotsylvania County Deputy Dean Ridings, 52, who was fatally injured Saturday after being thrown from his patrol boat in Lake Anna by a large boat wake.
Ridings hit his head on the 19-foot outboard motor patrol boat and was knocked unconscious, dying of his injuries. The Saturday accident occurred at about 12:40 p.m., according to the sheriff's office.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Salem Fields Community Church, 11120 Gordon Road in Fredericksburg. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Memorial Cemetery, on Route 3 at 10127 Plank Road, in Spotsylvania.
The funeral procession, the sheriff's department said, will travel from the church north on Gordon Road (Route 627), then west on Route 3 to the cemetery.
