Motorcyclist dies in Reston accident

Motorcyclist Corey Tarpley, 37, of Fredericksburg died at the scene of a 7 p.m. accident Sunday in Reston when he ran off the roadway and hit a metal pole after failing to make a curve on Fairfax County Parkway near Walnut Branch Road, Fairfax County police said.

Tarpley was riding a 2000 Honda motorcycle northbound in an accident police said might have involved speeding.

Detectives said it was not known if alcohol was a factor.
