50 years for attempted Md. rape, attack
A Westminster man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for trying to rape a woman and hitting her in the head with a hammer.
Fifty-two-year-old Paul Scott of Westminster was sentenced on Thursday. He was convicted in May of assault and attempted rape.
Prosecutors say Scott went to the home of the woman, an acquaintance, on May 10, 2009, hit the woman on the head several times with a hammer and tried to rape her.
Carroll County Circuit Judge J. Barry Hughes noted that this was Scott's ninth assault conviction.
