Man catches, holds alleged thief until police arrive: Frederick police
The Frederick County Sheriff's Office says a man who surprised an alleged thief inside his truck managed to detain the intruder until police arrived about seven minutes later.
Authorities haven't released the name of the man who spotted the intruder while walking his dog on McLauren Lane around 6:15 a.m. Sunday.
Cpl. Jennifer Bailey said Tuesday that the man grabbed the intruder, subdued him and kept him on the scene until deputies arrived.
She says 20-year-old Patrick Gleason was carrying a backpack containing stolen property. He and an unidentified 17-year-old found walking through the neighborhood were each charged with theft over $1,000.
Gleason couldn't be reached immediately for comment. There is no telephone listing for his address.
