Md. state police rescue man trapped by snow with helicopter
Maryland State Police say a helicopter crew has rescued a man who apparently got stranded trying to leave his snowbound home in rural western Maryland.
First Sgt. Joe George says the crew hoisted the man out of the mountainous area near Flintstone Tuesday morning after finding him inside a piece of heavy equipment, suffering from exposure.
George says the patient was flown to the Western Maryland Regional Trauma Center in Cumberland.
Allegany County Emergency Services Planner Roger Bennett says the man was staying alone in a home that lost electricity after a weekend storm that dropped more than two feet of snow on the area.
