Md. student murder trial wrapping up
Testimony is ending in the first-degree murder trial in Cumberland of a former Frostburg State University student.
Tyrone Hall’s lawyer says he expects the defense to rest by noon Thursday. He isn’t saying whether Hall will testify.
The 21-year-old defendant from Glen Burnie is claiming self-defense in the shotgun slaying of 20-year-old basketball player Brandon Carroll of Waldorf and the wounding of 22-year-old teammate Ellis Hartridge of Washington.
Four of Hall’s friends who saw the incident last April told the Allegany County jury Wednesday that the victims lunged or moved toward Hall before he fired.
That contradicts the testimony of the state’s eyewitnesses, including a woman who was romantically involved with both Hall and Hartridge.
