Missing man found, then charged
A man who became separated from his friends while floating down the Potomac River in an inner tube has been found. But the news wasn't all good for 37-year-old Bruce Carney, who was promptly charged with violating his probation.
Authorities in Maryland and West Virginia launched a search early Sunday after Carney, of Frostburg, was reported missing.
Carney was one of nine people floating near Little Orleans, Md., as nightfall approached Saturday. At about 8:30 p.m., the other floaters came ashore and walked to a nearby bar. When Carney failed to show up, someone reported him missing at about 1:30 a.m.
Shortly after 5 a.m., sheriff's deputies in Morgan County, W.V., found him walking on a trail.
They brought him to Maryland, where he was turned over to Allegany County police.
