Police use helicopter to rescue snowbound Frederick Co. man
Maryland State police and the Frederick County fire departments conducted an aerial rescue of a sick man from his snowbound home.
The fire department was summoned about 6:30 p.m. Thursday to a remote farm near Thurmont. Snow plows and loaders tried to get to the house, but the snow drifts were too deep.
A state police helicopter was called and paramedics were set down into a driveway next to the house and a basket was lowered. The patient was put into the basket and hoisted to the helicopter.
He was taken to a local hospital.
