Rape charge after MySpace meeting

Washington County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a Dundalk, Md., man they say had sex with a 14-year-old girl he met on MySpace.

Twenty-two-year-old Juan Valerio has been charged with second-degree rape and third-degree sex offense.

He is being held on $85,000 bail.

Deputies were called to Boonsboro on Oct. 4 for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Deputies say they stopped the car and found Valerio and the girl inside.

According to court documents, the girl told deputies the two had had sex earlier this year.

Valerio denied having sex with the girl.

oh yeah the fact that they arte using myspace is what sends up the red flag. that dude has a thing for little girls weird. show a picture of the girl, because sometimes 14 year olds look like they are 20. i once saw a smokin hoit chick that looked like about 23, asked how old she was, and she said, 12. what the he**!!! kids these days are maturing faster because of something and it fits righjt in on the fact that 7 year olds are developing then instead of 10 and 11 when puberty hits.

Rape is one of the worst, most horrible and cruel crimes there is.
While consentual sex with a minor is still wrong, I think we should call it something other then just "rape".
calling all illegal sex "rape" seems to diminish the horror of forced, violent sex rape but lumping it all together in the same catagory.

In anycase, everyone should reserve judgement on this guy until after he gets his day in court.

I guess a better question is why do people think that meeting strangers on a computer is any safer than meeting strangers on an anonymous phone call? If a guy calls a 14 year old girl on a wrong number she would just hang up and say dont call here again and tell her parents, If he drove up to her on the side of the road and tried to talk to her she would run, but put the same 14 year old on My Space or Facebook and they want to meet the stranger and have sex with them. I dont get it.

This shows how unsafe and unreliable MySpace is. Social networking sites today have become a joke and are extremely unsafe and harmful. Sites who actually care about users privacy is needed. This is ridiculous i say. People using these sites should become aware and join safer platforms like MyCube or Diaspora
